Asbestos Disposal
Grafton Regional landfill is one of only a few landfills in the Northern Rivers that can lawfully accept your asbestos waste and is the only place in the Clarence Valley that will do so. Asbestos will not be accepted at Waste Transfer Stations. It is illegal to dispose of asbestos waste in domestic garbage bins. It is also illegal to recycle, re-use, or illegally dump asbestos products.
Don’t risk a $5000 fine or prosecution with penalties up to $1 million.
Bagging and wrapping
Asbestos will only be accepted at the Grafton Regional landfill if it is double-bagged or double-wrapped in 200micron heavy duty plastic sheeting and sealed with duct tape. Used PPE should also be sealed within the plastic bags or sheeting.
Landfill disposal booking
Notification of each load for disposal must be lodged with the Grafton Regional Landfill weighbridge 24 hours prior to arrival.

Notification must include the deliverer’s name, contact phone number, quantity of asbestos and expected time of arrival. Stay up to date with current asbestos disposal costs at www.clarence.nsw.gov.au
Landfill asbestos acceptance hours
Asbestos will only be accepted at the Grafton Regional Landfill between the hours of 8.00am & 2.00pm Monday to Friday.
Asbestos will not be accepted on weekends or public holidays.
Asbestos acceptance is also subject to weather conditions.
