X-Ray film can be recycled. Small amounts of silver are separated from the plastic in the recycling process.
You can recycle your old film in the special xray bin at the Grafton Regional Landfill in South Grafton; or by dropping them into the Community Recycling Station (currently located in the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre, Yamba.)
Check with your hospital and/or X-ray centre to see if they will take your old xrays for recycling.
